Event Swings Back into Penang after a Successful Run Last Year

PENANG, June 4 (Bernama)-- The Red Bull Monkey Run was launched yesterday by Tuan Leong Theng Choon, Director of Penang State Sports Council at Straits Quay, Penang today which is eligible for residents of the island state.

Tuan Leong Theng Choon said, “The Red Bull Monkey Run is back in Penang for the second year in a row, and I couldn’t be happier to be here today to launch this exciting event. I hope that the people of Penang will take the opportunity to conquer the obstacles in the Red Bull Monkey Run and eventually strive to win lucrative prizes.”

Eng Swee Peng, National Marketing Operations Manager of Red Bull Malaysia, said, “Red Bull Malaysia, the nation’s No.1 energy drink, is proud to bring Monkey Run back to the beautiful sandy shores of Penang. Following the success of last year’s event, we were overwhelmed with many requests to have this event here again. This year’s competition promises to be both thrilling and spectacular, so come on down and let the games begin!“.

The qualifying rounds will be held at Straits Quay from 2-6 June, 2012, and will run from 12pm to 9pm daily. Entry is open to all Penang residents and those born in Penang aged 18 to 40 years old.

The entry fee of RM20 entitles the participant to six cans of Red Bull Less Sugar and a participant t-shirt, and a lucky draw ticket to be collected at the grand finals on 15 July 2012. A RM5 discount voucher off the registration fee is also available online.

The top 100 men and 50 women from the qualifying round will move on to the semi-final round, where the top 10 men and women will fight for a spot in the finals to compete for cash prizes totalling RM12,000 which will be held on 15 July 2012.

Wow, This is the most awesome match I ever seen. 3 days before the battle after dato' Lee Chong Wei(DLCW) defeat cheng long, he is the only hope for Malaysia to get our first gold medal.(since our swimmer fail to do so)There were rumors everywhere about free ice cream for everyone from Baskin Robbins, Holidays for all , free nasi kandar , and even 10% off for purchasing the Samsung galaxy Iphone!
